The structural condition of Easiform cavity-walled dwellings (BR 130)
BRE (Building Research Establishment) is an independent, research-based consultancy, testing and training organisation, operating in the built environment and associated industries.
On 1 January 1988, BRE published The structural condition of Easiform cavity-walled dwellings (BR 130), by R J Currie.
The 29 page report describes the structural condition of Easiform Construction, determined by inspection and sampling of dwellings built between 1926 and 1967. BRE did not find any cases of structural inadequacy during this investigation, although there was cracking in the external walls of some houses due to the corrosion of embedded reinforcement. This cracking was generally minor in post-1946 construction, but more substantial in some of the oldest dwellings (60 yrs).
The contents of the report include:
- Introduction.
- Two-storey construction.
- Three and four storey construction.
- Method of inspection.
- Sites inspected.
- Discussion of findings.
- Notes for surveyors.
- Conclusion.
- Acknowledgements.
- References.
- Plates
- Appendix: Results of analysis of concrete samples from the sites inspected.
